Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We value the power of diversity, equity, and inclusion and are committed to identifying and dismantling harmful biases. We are empowered to hold ourselves and others accountable as we build and enact systems in pursuit of anti-racist, anti-discriminatory practices and culture.

We acknowledge that Lagree West operates within the boutique fitness industry, where accessibility for and representation of BIPoC has historically been limited. We are committed to giving back to our community, supporting diversity, fostering inclusivity, and creating more equitable access to our classes.

In an effort to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in our four walls and beyond we are focusing on the following initiatives:

Increased Representation

+ Hiring

We are committed to being a welcoming and inclusive space that celebrates individuals of all walks of life. We are hiring and promoting people of diverse backgrounds. Representation matters within the boutique fitness community. Learn More

+ Scholarships

We believe that everyone should have an opportunity to grow their teaching practice regardless of the financial barriers. At Lagree West, we are proud to offer full scholarship opportunities for the BIPoC community and those with financial barriers in our Lagree West Certification program. Scholarships are available to those who strive to share the benefits of movement through teaching. At least 1 scholarship is available for every 10 recipients enrolled. We encourage those who do not usually see themselves represented in the wellness community to apply. Learn More

+ Client Features & Branding

We are committed to creating a community of staff, clients, and partners that more accurately represents the diverse society we operate within. We aim to do better at demonstrating this diverse representation in our branding and social media channels.

Accessibility

+ Community classes

The community classes at Lagree West increase accessibility, build relationships, and give back to our community. Each quarter, we will partner with an organization or cause related to diversity, equity, and inclusion; women’s health; mental health; and environmental sustainability. All community class profits for that quarter will be donated to that organization, so we can deepen our support and community impact.

Pricing for our community classes will be offered using a ‘pay-what-you-can’ model, helping to ease the financial barriers to boutique fitness and increase access to underrepresented communities. Learn More

Inclusivity

+ Staff training

Our team will engage in diversity, equity, and inclusion training in order to address discrimination and foster belonging within our organization and within the fitness industry. By learning the principles and language of diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are committed to doing the work necessary to interrupt our unconscious biases. We will hold each other accountable and speak out against harmful practices we witness within our studios, industry, and network.
